Target group:

60 women of various ages, with employment record, but for the last 18 months unable to get a job, 50% with higher education and 60 mentors.

Objectives:
  1. 1. To adapt the mentoring experience, proven itself in the international practice for solving the employment problems of the Lithuanian women.
  2. 2. To establish the centres of the Social Mentoring Network for employment in Utena, Vilnius, Kaunas counties, that would provide greater opportunities for the women to reintegrate into the labour market.
  3. 3. Change the attitudes of the public politics regarding the status of unemployed women and in the area of increasing opportunities.
  4. 4. To develop the methodology of the Social Mentoring Model and publish it in the methodical publication.

Goals:

To develop a Social Mentoring Network (model) in the area of employment and provide an opportunity for the women who have been out of work for an extensive period of time to reintegrate into the labour market by taking over the experience of women, who have successfully overcome the employment problems simultaneously overcoming the discrimination.

Innovation:

1.Transnational partnership.
The establishment Social Mentoring model and emplementing in the future are innovation of this project.
2. Business mentoring have adapted for creating Social mentoring.

Activities:

  1. The development of the Social Mentoring Network in the field of employment – the communities of the women centres, housing the long-term unemployed, successfully working women after a long-term unemployment and businesswomen (“mentors”-preceptresses) in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Utena counties.
  2. Gathering the pilot group of women who have been out of work for an extensive period of time and are seeking employment.
  3. Selecting and training mentors-preceptresses for working with women, seeking employment that have lost self-confidence and motivation.
  4. Website development for women community Social Mentoring Network (model) in the area of employment, with the useful information for the women, seeking employment and with 30 success stories of women who have been successfully employed.
  5. Arrangement of computer literacy, Lithuanian and foreign languages, self-confidence, social skills, image development, entrepreneurial skills development courses for the pilot group.
  6. Arranging conferences and seminars influencing the public policy regarding the increase of the unemployed women status and opportunities.
  7. Development of adaptation programs for the newly employed female employees and introducing the programs (with training) to the employers of Vilnius, Kaunas, and Utena counties.
  8. Research and analysis of the factors determining successful employment.
  9. Systemizing the whole material, received during the project and performing qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  10. Project monitoring and assessment of the results

Planned results:

  1. The developed Social Mentoring Network in the field of employment: 3 Social Mentoring Centres established in Utena, Vilnius, and Kaunas counties.
  2. 3 pilot groups gathered in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Utena counties.
  3. 60 women – mentors selected and trained for working with the pilot group of 30 people.
  4. The information dissemination performed: taking part in at least 1 television programs, 1500 informational booklets developed, 30 articles in the national and regional press, 6 conferences and 30 consultancy seminars arranged; 1video film, 1 internet website developed, the methodical publications covering 4 topics published with the circulation of 600 units.
  5. The 120 day training for women - mentors arranged in the counties (including intensive and additional training), 3 internships abroad for thirty women - mentors (One group shall include 10 full time women-mentors and three international partners).
  6. 240 day training provided for the pilot group (languages, computer literacy, and etc.)
  7. The adaptation program developed for the newly employed female employees and introduced to the employers– 6 seminars (2 in each county).
  8. 4 training methodical manuals developed for the pilot group.
  9. One research of the factors determining successful employment and result analysis performed.
Prospective outcomes:
  1. At least 50% of the pilot group members shall be employed within one year from the end of the project.
  2. Social Mentoring Model in the field of employment could be implemented in other regions of Lithuania and in the same way adapted for solving the employment problems of other social groups.
  3. The information about the EQUAL mission disseminated by the initiative of the development community.
Prospective impact:
  1. The application of this experience shall improve the process of solving women unemployment problems in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Utena counties.
  2. The Social Mentoring Network in the area of employment, developed by the development community shall encourage the government institutions and the politicians to solve women unemployment problems, applying the practice of social mentoring the area on employment.
  3. The cooperation between the Development Community, international partners and other Lithuanian organizations and companies shall strengthen the status of unemployed women in the public politics, a more positive attitude towards the women who have been out work for an extensive period of time shall be formed.

Activities:

Activity 1: Partnership meetings and thematic seminars / workshops

The partners will get together in a partnership meeting twice a year, altogether there will be five meetings. Partnership meetings will take four days, including one day for management of the TP (Steering Group). One day will be dedicated to the thematic seminar/workshop of experts on a specific theme and one day to intercultural and social activities. The aim of the seminars / workshops is to share experiences on gender equality in the labour market within a wider perspective including age, ethnicity, family situation and long-term unemployment. The results of the national DPs will be discussed for wide inter-implementation.

Activity 4: Study visits (internships)

4.1. Study visit of the members of the Slovak DP “Plus for Women 45+” hosted by the DP “MONIKKO” (Finland) in Helsinki. The main purpose will be to discuss strategies of research; equality planning and diversity management; gender mainstreaming and media.

Date: October 2005

4.2. Internships are organised for two groups of social mentor-trainees (15 women in each group, one translator and one organiser), carried out by the DP “Give me a hand” (Lithuania) and hosted by the DP “MONIKKO” (Finland) in Helsinki. One of these groups will be joined by the DP “Women @ Europe” (Germany) with two participants. The external consultant Ritva Nyberg will be invited by the DP “Give me a hand”. The participants of each DP will cover their transportation, accommodation, and meals on a separate basis. The expert’s fee will be covered by the Lithuanian DP. The duration of the study visit is three days.

Activity 5: Gender Equality Planning

5.1. The “Gender Equality Planning” developed by the Finnish partner will be tested in other partner countries by preparing a “Gender Equality Plan” in at least 4 SMEs in Lithuania, 2-4 SMEs in Germany and 2-3 SMEs in Slovakia.

Dates: 1.03.2006-1.08.2007

5.2. In order to introduce this method to the partners, the DP “MONIKKO” will offer the workshop "Tools for change - Equality Planning in practice" in Finland.

Date: January/February 2006

5.3. A two day seminar of a Finish expert including the issues Gender Equality Planning, media and Gender Mainstreaming is planned in Slovakia.

Activity 6: Intercultural training (eLearning)

Two intercultural trainings for 1-3 participants from each DP (project staff members as subproject managers, trainers) will be offered by the DP “Women @ Europe”. The training will include six weeks online training and an opening seminar (two days) in Germany. All expenses except of the travel cost will be covered by the German DP.

Activity 7: Administration of the transnational website

In order to share and disseminate information a transnational website will be established as a part of the website of the DP “Women @ Europe” (Germany) on which information from each DP is stored. The German partner will be responsible for the administration of the transnational part of the website. All partners will add links to this website on their national websites.

7.1. Quarterly news of the TP

The partnership will use the website to host quarterly news of the transnational partnership. All partners will prepare short articles each three month to put at the website for monitoring the partnerships progress as well as to place common outputs and results in English language.

7.2. Success stories of gender equality and diversity at work, education and/or carrier development

Each partner will select and develop at least two success stories of participants / companies / educational centres of promoting gender equality and diversity at work, overcoming unemployment barrier, successful carrier development (English language). These successes stories will be presented at the website of the partnership.
