Target group:

Deaf and hard of hearing persons

Objectives:

Implementing innovative and effective employment system, which will improve possibilities of job seeking for the hearing-impaired persons

Goals:

Introduce and trial in practice modern employment model for hearing impaired persons, establishing Vocational Consultation and Employment Service for active job search using modern technologies, analysing opportunities to use model in Lithuania and abroad.

Innovation:
  • Creation of audiovisual database of unemployed hearing-impaired persons
  • Individual presentations of applicants to the employer using audiovisual database and modern technologies
  • Overcome communicational difficulties of deaf and hard of hearing people

Activities:

  • Research on situation of employment of hearing impaired persons
  • Work motivation seminars for people with hearing disabilities
  • Seminar for employers about opportunities of employment of disabled persons
  • Creation of audiovisual database of hearing impaired people
  • Trainings for the job hunters
  • Activity of Vocational Consultation and Employment Service
  • Description of employment model, publishing and presentation for interested institutions/ persons

Planned results:

  • Research on the attitudes of the employers and their forwardness to employ disabled persons, general situation of hearing-impaired persons in the labour market (at the beginning of the project)
  • Research on the attitudes of the employers and their forwardness to employ disabled persons, general situation of hearing-impaired persons in the labour market (after testing new employment model)
  • Work motivation courses for 150 -200 unemployed hearing-impaired individuals are organized to train them introduce themselves into the modern labour market by emphasizing their positive sides;
  • Seminar for employers about police of labour market , employment problems of target group, legislative system and presentation of new employment model;
  • An audiovisual database (with individual presentations, CVs and Certificates of applicants) of 150-200 hearing-impaired persons is created;
  • Training seminars for 20 professional job hunters are organized;
  • Establishment of Vocational Consultation and Employment Service where new employment model will be used;
  • Employers’ database of 300 potential employers is created
  • Prepared and published description of detailed employment model
  • Final international conference were project results will be presented
Prospective outcomes:

It is foreseen that new model of deaf and hard of hearing employment will help to employ about 50 per cent of the target group (out of 200 deaf and hard of hearing). The real result will show that it is possible to improve integration process through implementing new models and activation of employment process

Prospective impact:

New employment model will help to diminish social exclusion of people with disabilities.

Integration of Hearing Impaired Persons into the Open Labour Market

Activities:

  • The improvement of the “image” of disabled people, both among disabled themselves and employers;
  • New methods; this other aim of the TP concerns the exchange of tools, methods and ideas for promoting the job insertion of disabled people;
  • Exchange of information; this dimension of the transnational collaboration is related to the continuous exchange of information that partners will go though all along the project;
  • Self entrepreneurship; some of the Equal projects involved in the “Share” TP aims at enabling disabled people to start their own business as entrepreneurs;
  • Personal involvement; the aims of the TP do not only refer to the quality and effectiveness of projects but also to the capacity of the project to stimulate and motivate the practitioners and officers who will actually work.

Planned results:

  • Pilot research for evaluation of „social capital“
    Concept of “social capital” reveals new attitude towards disability by making focus on social networks, contacts and relationship among community and society members while integrating people with disabilities.
  • Means of dissemination
    Common leaflet with presentation of national projects of each partner
  • Recommendation to policy-makers on disability issues
    Recommendations both on national and international level according to the transnational partnership activities will be prepared.
  • Share of EQUAL projects methods and devices
    Partners will share their devices and methods created and tested during the project.
  • Social advertising video
    As common product it is foreseen to create common video clip for positive attitudes of employers, policy makers, and general society members towards disabled persons in labour situation.

Activities:

Both DP’s aim to open up company-related information to jobseekers in order to raise their empowerment and at the same time enable employers to develop a showcase for their HRM- and diversity policies. Although goal of both projects is to realize a larger employability of people belonging to vulnerable groups by promoting the organization of a labour market based on competencies, eliminating biases and stereotypes.

Planned results:

Complementary research on the information needs of jobseekers and employers.
Both DPs perform research on the information needs of employers and jobseekers. They inform each other about the set up of the research and the final and intermediate outputs. The outputs of the research are compared during a workshop. The outcome of this workshop will be one weighted list of information items needed by jobseekers to be able to find the appropriate job efficiently.Both DPs are seeking to develop and activate a database of companies for jobseekers and their placement counsellors. The DPs want to exchange relevant tools and experience regarding template/design of database of companies. Representative of Lithuanian DP will have study tour to Belgium about the technical aspects of creating databases.
Strategies to convince employers to provide information to jobseekers.
The DPs want to exchange experience regarding work with employers and to create a common product - a manual on how to convince and motivate companies to provide information about their HRM-policies.
